Tyrian Dance

Electric and acoustic violins, guitar and beat · 2015

Also on Spotify · Apple Music · Deezer

Tyrian Dance sits at the crossroads of electro tango and Cuban habanera. It began as a passionate live improvisation on electric violins, and I recorded it again with acoustic and electric strings together. I have played it live in Sydney with a full band: drums, keys, bass and electric guitar.

Bords de Seine

Piano and viola with ambient textures

Released 26 June 2026 · 3:11

Walks along the Seine in Paris inspired Bords de Seine: a piano and viola melody in the spirit of the late Romantic era, set within modern electronic textures. It opens in contemplation and rises into uplifting passages carried by the full sound of the viola.

About

I started out playing electric violin over my own beats, and over the years my productions have grown into fully composed pieces.

Fransoafran is where I fuse organic instruments, acoustic and electric strings, with electronic and popular influences: electro tango, latin grooves, lofi, deep house and ambient textures. Each track tells a story, from epic pieces to chill, reflective beats.

Many of them start as an improvisation. Tyrian Dance came from a live improvisation on electric violins, and Waiting For You keeps its first improvised take as I played it. My electric violins come from the Australian maker David Guscott and the American luthier Evan Fourness, among them a 5-string for a deeper tone.

After a classical training I toured and recorded for years as a jazz and rock violinist with bands in France, then moved to Australia to release my own music. Today I live in Ho Chi Minh City and record at Soulbow, my studio and creative home. My chamber and classical music lives under my own name, François Mathian.
